"Burn the heretics." Rarely is a single word weighed down by such negative imagination and imagery. The Salem Witch Trials were a widely known series of hearings in which the local courts attempted to prosecute 'heretics' accused of witchcraft. Because their acts didn't seems to align with those of the social norm, they were condemned to an ill-fated death. These were innocent people who were misjudged and not fully understood- men, women, and children who were victims of uncertainty. Like these heretics, I find myself placed in a world of uncertainty and often poorly judged. It takes more than superficial accusations to fully understand who I really am because there is more to be seen underneath.
